The recent long teachers convention weekend gave me the opportunity to finally complete my Thanksgiving packet! I also gave it an early “test” run this week, and my students gave it two “thumbs up”!
I set the stage by taking students back in time to the first Thanksgiving in 1621. The Pilgrims and Wampanoag Tribe celebrated the harvest with games of chance over a three-day period. Students receive an invitation to step back in time and participate in Language Games!
I divide students into teams (Pilgrims vs. Wampanoags), and provide craft stick puppets for fun.
The goal is for each team to “Fill Their Plate” with Thanksgiving goodies by earning points. Points can be earned by answering Thanksgiving-themed questions in the following areas: opposites, categories, scrambled sentences, vocabulary and rhyming. Points are tracked on these super-cute sheets and traded in for Thanksgiving goodies.
You can GOBBLE up this packet in my TPT store!
